Neil - thank you for pointing out the facility for Ancestors and Descendants of which I was not aware. I've used this facililty in my PAF tree (where I can in fact print it out rather more compactly) but this is worth knowing - did a trial run for one corner of descendants! |

Another option which I have not seen mentioned recently for printing parts of a GR tree, is to highlight an individual on the full tree, then click on 'Ancestors' or 'Descendants'. Either of these will show the direct line leading to or from the selected individual, but will not include siblings or children . You can then print off a copy of this shortened tree by the same method you would use for a full tree. |

Thank you to all of you who have replied to help me with this problem. I am going to try IreneinSpain suggestion and see if I can do it as a Gedcom with someone to print it. It may be expensive but I will only need to do it once. |

I've just had a play around with some trees on here, and if the tree is up to about 500 people you can "preview" it, and one I've just previewed (496) would take 78 pages to print in a readable font - though the number of pages depends on how many generations you've got, numbers of siblings etc. |

Thank you Eddie, I did hope that there would be a programme or something that I could use to get the tree off in a more favourable format. I have going on 1000 names so it will take a lot of A4 sheets. |

If you open your tree there is a print option on the right hand side. You have to have your tree on "Full tree" though, not immediate family. |
