An Agent is normally self employed and would act on behalf of a company ie Insurance Agent would go around collecting premiums and get a commision on the money collected

well a Foreman is the one in charge and would oversee the work done. Many factory or trades had a Foreman

I have had a look at that site - still cant find Agent. Another one I have come across is 'Foreman' any ideas?

Carman/Charman/Carrier/
Carter/Cartman Driver of (horse-drawn) vehicles for transporting goods. Carmen were often employed by railway companies for local deliveries and collections of goods and parcels. Modern day van driver. A Carter typically drove a light two wheeled carriage. Also sometimes someone who drove horse-drawn trams was called a Carman.

Does anyone know what a 'carman' or 'agent' could have been in 1881 and 1891?
I've googled them and no luck!
