I have a death certificate for my aunt, Brenda Alexandra BISHOP who died on 2nd May 1935 in The Childrens Hospital age 4. Cause of death is given as "Haeomorrhage following laceration of lung by a fractured rib due to having been accidentally knocked down by a motor car in Upton Cheyney, Glos" the Inquest was held on 7th May 1935. I have contacted the Coroner's Office for the District of Bristol/Avon but their records only go back to 1942. As it would have been rare for a car to be on the road in 1935, I wonder whether it may have been reported in a local newspaper? Does anyone know how I can go about finding out this information please? |

Thanks Annie, I have just emailed the Bristol Central Library to see what newspaper archives they may hold. |

Couldnt you just strangle those people who took it upon themselves to throw away vital paperwork! Thanks for the info anyway and will contact Bristol Archive as suggested. |

Annie, I have just heard from the Bristol Central Library that they have a copy of the newspaper which recorded details of the inquest and they will send me a copy. Thanks for the tip... it worked for me! Linda |
