I have acquired a copy of a marriage cert for a relative in 1898 in Wrexham Register Office. On the line that starts "Married in...." the usual notation of "...by Certified Licence by me, ..." has been altered. The word Certified has been crossed though and the number '5' appended above and 'by me' has been changed to 'before me'. There is also a margin note of 'Five' initialled by the registrar. Does anyone know what this signifies? |
