Thankyou to all who have replied, i will e-mail the library tomorrow i just want to know if Highgate Lane, still stands the same today as it did in the early 1900's. I have been talking to a brummie today and he mentioned a brewery that used to stand on the Lane, i'am after what is at 26, Highgate Lane, i know years ago it was a Miliners shop, just wondered if 26 was still standing if it is i will take a trip down to see where my family came from. Thankyou |

I wonder if Kings Norton Library just covers the current suburb though? Kings Norton rehistration district covered a huge area in past years, up to what would now be inner city Birmingham! So Birmingham Central Library would be your next step. |

Hi Jan I'am sure if i contact the Central Library they will be able to point me in the right direction, i did think it was on the outskirts until talking to the brummie today, when he said get off at new street train station, get a cab and you will be there in two minutes. Thankyou all once again on this. |

One last word! As far as I can tell there is no Highgate Lane now, though a lot of Highgate somethings (and even just Highgate!). |

Highgate Road is in Birmingham postcode B12. Today it is virtually an urban clearway so I am afraid that a visit will not reveal much about its past. You can view it on Google Earth, Just enter Highgate Rd Birmingham UK in the search box. |

I've driven along there many a time in the past and from what I can remember there are no old buildings left on the road itself, though there are some in roads off it. If I happen that way again I'll check! |
