His mother had two children but ignored marriage :-)

You can find him in the first census, on the second Emily is still with her daughter but Nicodemus isn't. Can anyone find trace of him please?

Thanks

Sue

Do you think he could have died between census - I cannot find him on any later census - perhaps he used the name Hubert

Hi Liz,

I checked deaths for Rupert/Nicodemus and came up with nothing. I was excited as it was an interesting name but that soon fell flat. Hubert was a mistranscription.

That's him Jan, it's a bloomin' mystery. I guess he could have been farmed out and had his name changed but I really would like to know if he exists under his name somewhere.

Hello everyone,

Emily's parents are Richard and Lucy. The Courts are a bit of a pain because they have used the same Christian names for cousins!

There is a branch in SE London but it's not them I am tracking at the moment.

Yes her DOB does vary, I assume that's to do with the birth of her first illegitimate child and or the informant. Also where it states she is the niece of the head of household I haven't been able to confirm that yet.

It's a really strange name to land on her son! It definitely is NOT a Court family name at all. Neither is Rupert. They aren't two names that you would choose for a son without a father on the scene, it rather draws attention to him.

Thank you all for continuing to help, I really do need it and appreciate the time you are spending on it.

Sue
