Following this thread, I've exported my tree via Gedcom but opening the attachment I was disappointed to see that the last update was August 2009!. Not much good really. Any idea how I can have it brought up to date? |

You can't "bring a gredcom" up to date, as it where. It is a copy of your tree data at a fixed point in time. If you have subsequently made changes to your tree, on GR and then create a new gedcom export, this will reflect those changes. |

OK I have put my tree on Ancestry,is there a way to also put it on my own computor and have it in my control not a website. |

You need to invest in a tree program such as Family Tree Maker. There are other programs too, or you could try the freebie called PAF which you can download from the Family Search Site. |

Thankyou IGP I have downloaded a free 30day trial from Family Historian which was recommended so I will see how easy that is to use. |
