Kay???? Report 12 Apr 2010 16:12

Were any more children named McKinnon?

as Violet Gladys McKinnon was born and baptised in London PR 1906 to Daisy Parkinson and Gordon L McKinnon.

Violet G looks to have married iSurrey way.

I really have no idea Kay.There is a Georgina Mckinnon born 1924 mother Parkinson and this I suspect to be my aunt, who until very recently I'd always assumed she was a Simpson same as my dad,but I can't believe that she was married in 1905 and Georgina was the first child of that union !

Kay????

Kay???? Report 12 Apr 2010 16:24

The child Violet Gladys bapt to Daisy and Gordon McKinnon 1906,Gordon was a milkman and they lived at,87 Sulgrave Rd Shepherds Bush, there were no more bapt to this couple listed.

Gordon L McKinnon died 1940 in Fulham age given 56,,so24/ 25 in 1905,,

,,Georgina was bn Fulham also,I would say its looking likely that this could be the right trail.
She would have been late 40s to have children round early 1930s,,it did happen and was quite common.

Perhaps the BC of your aunt could reveal she had left Gordon McKinnon by 1924?so decleared herself a widow they were possibly divorced and she kept it a secret.

Teresa

Teresa Report 12 Apr 2010 17:14

The BC of my aunt Kay,does not have father's name, just blank. My dad born in 1926 was also born in Fulham but his BC states george Alfred Simpson as his father, though I do wonder ...

Kay????

Kay???? Report 12 Apr 2010 18:37

Hi Teresa

That BC of your aunts confirms what was suspected,by 1924 she had left her husband, but the child would still be registered in her mothers name/or surname,,,if she had a child or two when she met your grandad then it was probally easier to say she was a widow.

There isnt any divorce showing on National Archives but only a % are shown anyway.
But where the Flanaghan is from is a mystery..perhaps her mother remarried and stepdads name took or perhaps the other way round?

Teresa

Teresa Report 12 Apr 2010 19:41

You are right Kay the Flanaghan is slightly perplexing !! Thankyou and everyone else for their input, will keep you updated

My 2nd cousin has sent me a copy of Georgina's BC and mother's name is Daisy Mckinnon formerly Parkinson,so am I right in assuming that her maiden name was Parkinson?
My thoughts are that she was involved with George Simpson and either divorced him or just ran away !

Teresa Report 13 May 2010 20:57

Just an update, received marriage certificate of Daisy and Gordon, father's name on that John Parkinson.I know that at least 3 children were born from this marriage, still on the hunt !!
Many thanks to everyone for their input
