The address is Quay Street but I can't make out the occupation. It doesn't look much like it but could it be Servant? He was a Man Servant in the 1861 census. The first letter certainly looks like the first letter of the word Scholar further down the page. |

Neither can I, and I'm usually good at this. The first letter is a P or a G from other pages. What is he in other census records/ |

he is still in Quay street on the 1861 and his occupation is Man Servant which you can then make that out on the 1871 census if you compare the writing to others on the same street . you can make out the first letter is an S |

Having looked at the image again and going to the next page to compare letters I now think that the first letter is a "G" and I think his occupation might be Groom. |

thanks once again everyone and i think that looking at your replies then samuel must have been a servant or groom and the more i look at it i see the word groom . |
