Trying to solve a family mystery back at the begining of the 1900's. My grandparents were marreid on 25th Dec 1905, Arthur James Cleary and Louisa Jones. I have their marriage certificate. AJ is down as 'of full age' so born around 1880-1884. No sign of him in the 1891 census or the 1901 census. His father is noted as Patrick deceased) - stevedore. There is a family legend (cousins only) that his mother had to get him a new birth certificate before the wedding could take place. He was also listed as a stoker, so we assume he served in the Navy (Royal or Merchant). I can trace Nan back to her Great gran, but am throughtly stuck on Grandad AJ. |
