Im confused with a place of birth

On the 1841 census william jones was listed at 3 months old and being born in Tredegar Monmouthshire also the same on the 1861 census I phoned Tredegar records office and they cant find him would he of been reg anywhere else |

He may not have been registered as it wasnt compulsory till 1875. Have you tried the IGI on Family search for his baptism |

Hi Sylvia, I have William on the 1851 and 1861 census and both say Tredegar Monmouth |
