Andrea, while you could search the parish records for churches in these areas you really need that marriage cert. Just too many possibilities. You might guess by my username that I'm a Brummie (and I live in the next district to what is now Kings Norton!) , but I wouldn't even know where to start!

The earliest census addressin 1851 I have for the man is Buckingham Street, St Georges Parish, Birmingham but he was married to somebody else by then.

However in 1840 the first wife and him may have lived in vauxhall street, St Peter's district Birmingham

Peter, that isn't so. Kings Norton registration district spanned as far as Balsall Heath - near to the centre of Birmingham - to Smethwick, now in the Black country. Borders have changed beyond all recognition.
Andrea, Kings Norton did border on Birmingham. Have you got an address on census reports? This might give a clue.

If you find the marriage on freebmd and then click on the Kings Norton name, you will see a list of places covered by that registration district and the time frames.

The obvious answer is King's Norton parish church. It is an ancient foundation and is quite likely to be the one you want.

Do you know if Birmingham boarder was right next door to the boarder of Kings Norton?

Andrea, Kings Norton covered a huge area back then, including large parts of what is now Birmingham. Birmingham was a separate place, even in a different county so the two do not mix!!
You need the marriage cert really - if you hurry you can get it before the rise.

I need to get a marriage certificate for a couple married in 1839. The district is King's Norton although they lived in Birmingham. Has anybody any ideas of churches near the inner city area of birmingham that would have been classed King's Norton - I have just seen Certificate from Birmingham are going up to £9 on 6 April so would prefer to find parish records. The marriage is not on the IGI
