Need help desperatly on Irish records plz

I searched in for my Dublin Ancestor in the Records Office in Dublin but could not find a Birth Certificate but was pointed in the righ direction by a Genealogist in Dublin(free of charge in Dublin Nation Archives) He also said that a lot of births were not registered. |

Unfortunately born before civil registration started (1864 for births in Ireland). |
