My great grand uncle Charles Neville White was court martialed and dismissed from the Royal Navy in 1869. |

There is probably a record at the National Archives. What was the name of the ship? |

According to the National Archives website the details of Courts Martial and other custody records for RN personnel are currently closed. |

The RN Court Martial records are closed for 75 years from the last date in the file, so I find it surprising that they are closed. There are also various records at Kew regarding the ship for the year in question - whether they might provide any info on this matter though I don't know. Might be worth a look. |

I was at Kew today and had a look for the court martial details. They are available and also the ships muster. Will send details by email. Not much detail, basically disrespectful conduct followed by drunkeness. Transferred to HMS Hibernia. |
