I can't make out the twirly writing on the census form, one of my anscestors comes from Ireland - Ebilston, Ebileton??? It could be a T at the start, but the next letter looks like a b. Anyone know alikely contender for the village name? |

Is this an English census form or one from Ireland? Just wondered if I could look at it on Ancestry. |

It is the Scottish Census of 1881. My gr grandmother presumably got talking to the census man as hers is the only entry where a village name is included with the generic 'Ireland'. It never happens again in the census or marriage or death forms. |

Unfortunately we can't view census images from Scotland on Ancestry. |

Also when I'm having trouble deciphering the entry it can help to highlight it by left clicking the mouse/pad and dragging across the area.It changes the background to blue (on my screen) and sometimes it makes it a bit clearer to read...just a thought so hope it helps |

I'd be happy to look at it if you can scan it. Just send me a pm (private message) by clicking on my name. |
