correction to marriage cert

One branch of my family found their surname had changed in the past because it was spelt wrongly on a birth certificate and never corrected! |

Thanks - I have checked census for 1911 and he is Thomas, not Francis. Don't know why I didn't think of that before! |

I'd say he was called Thomas Jaques. When the original was written the vicar probably just got confused and wrote the same name for both fathers. |

Probably was the wrong entry by the registrar or vicar and was corrected later when the error was pointed out . |

I've received a copy marriage cert today for a marriage in February 1918. Column 7 refers to father's names. Groom's father is Francis John Monty, bride's father is shown as Francis Jaques with "Francis" being underlined. |
