Make sure that you do really need the Ancestry premium service. For me it was a complete waste of money and I 'downsized' to Essentials this year. |

Warren...Ancestry by far the better in my opinion (having used FMP as well). It is expensive as you really need the "Premium" membership (particularly if you have London ancestors). I had a subscription for a year and have now slowed down in my research. I now just have a monthly when I want to get stuck in again. It is about £12 which is great if you have a quiet period at home. You can save records that can be viewed later even if you haven't kept up your subscription. Be careful, though, as you have to "unsubscibe" as they will automatically carry your subscription on to the next month. |

Thanks Kath I am leaning towards the Ancestry site. I just wanted to make sure no one came up with any rip off stories. Thank you |

For a paid site with a subscription I don't think you can beat Ancestry although others prefer Findmypast. It really depends on what you get used to and how easy you find them to use. |

Hi I have been using the computer at the library to do some research on their ancestor site but am now wanting to sign up to a web site so I can dedicate more time to my research at home My worry is picking the right one. Has anyone got any recommendations. I am wanting access to the normal records BMD, census records etc. Thank you |
