Quick question for some advice please, passed down through the family I have been lead to believe that a member of the family ended up in South Africa (Rhodesia as it was then), and another in New Zealand. How would I go about looking into whether this is true? Would searching passenger lists be my first place to start? Do South Arfica and New Zealand have any census records or anything like that. |

Hi, sorry I didn't put specifics down, think it was because it was more of a general question. I am not 100% sure of the dates but at a guess it would be 1890's onwards. There were a number of brothers, some of whom were mariners so it's possible the 2 I can't find were as well, they are Samuel Lloyd Evans born c1872, Bangor, Caernarfonshire, Wales and John Arthur Evans born c1866, Anglesey, Caernarfonshire, Wales. John is listed as a Sailor on the 1881 census, then the whole family seems to disappear for the 1981 UK census, 1 brother and the parents reappear in the 1901 census, 2 other brothers have now been found in the US (at least I think they are the right ones!). |

Having checked the records for New Zealand with some very kind help, I may have located my JOhn Arthur Evans. |
