Thanks for that, Ann, but my Fanny Broadhurst was born 1848 and was definitely the daughter of Jane Broadhurst b 1821 who never married as she is on the census later living with her brother David and with her son-in-law George Powell who married Fanny.
But Jane did have a brother Henry b about 1812
cheers,
Jill

John Osbourne, currier, was entered as the father of Fanny Broadhurst on her marriage cert. She was the daughter of Jane Broadhurst b1821 who was working for catholic priest James O'Farrell age 25 on the 1841 census. (he disappeared too!) There was only one John Osbourne on the 1841 census with his wife and 5 children in Walsall. But what happened to them after that? DId he have to emigrate or something when he was named as the father? Ideas please?
Jill.
