Tony, read the Tips for New members for basic research information. The information found could have been found by you just by buying your fathers birth cert and then looking for the marriage of the grandparents on freebmd and buying that cert and so on backwards using certs and census information. |

If you are not already using it then Freebmd is a great resource as the results come up under the register page numbers, so e.g. for marriages you normally only have two parties to compare to the censuses to see if they match instead of dozens, similarly for births after 1912 the mother's maiden name is there. |
