Agree with Gynn and Kath ,Military personnel had to have their commanding officers consent to marry and a marriage conducted without that wouldn't be recognised In order for the bride to be his next of kin and to be treated as his wife it had to comply with all the ARMY regulations |

I'm not sure of the details, but soldiers had to have the permission of their commanding officer in order to marry. |

I'm not certain but I think when you are in the army you have to have permission to marry from your commanding officer. Perhaps they didn't have it the first time round so went through the ceremony again to get the right "paperwork" for the army - perhaps to get married quarters? |

Alfred William Conyers (27) and Adelaide Augusta Tallentire (21) married in MAY 1907 at WOOLWICH Registry Office. They were both stationed at the Red Barracks, Ordnance College, Woolwich. |
