It's possible they married before registration as thisappears to be the birth registration of their daughter and there is an older son. |

Hi Kath, thanks for the reply. Charlotte appears on the 1851 census. They didn't appear to leave the area around Bethnal Green. I looked at other later marriages but they didn't seem to fit the area. |

Perhaps one of the other females on the marriage index was his wife and she died and he then married again to Charlotte. There are a few marriages after 1840 for a Charles Newman to a Charlotte on FreeBMD. |
