Has anyone requested a copy of a divorce record from the National Archives, Kew? |

I've never ordered a divorce file from them but have looked at plenty of them at Kew. Provided you gave them the right info about the names you're interested in then I'm sure it will be fine. Quite a big file though - the ones I've looked at haven't been as many pages as that. |

I went to the National Archives and copied a Divorce File for a friend, from the same year, and it ran to 17 pages, all relating to the case. It was all the papers lodged at the Court, including some of the evidence and the result. |

They give reason and will mention any co-respondent if there is one and any children. |

I got the divorce papers relating to my great grandparents. I got 32 A3 pages for about £17. I considered it well worth the money as it gave me an insight into their lives. It also gave the date and place of their wedding and all the children's names and ages. It also told me that g grandma's mother was still alive. Another piece of valuable, though sad, information is that g grandma had a child the day after g granddad was particularly violent towards his wife. I had not known about this poor child before as it did not survive, probably stillborn. |
