My grandmother made a teenage voyage to Egypt in 1915 on the SS Yarra. She stayed for one year and returned to England. Nothing is known about why she went there alone, during the war, where she lived, whether she had a child or where she lived. I have her return information from the England immigration records but nothing for leaving England as I believe the ship Yarra sailed from France. |

She could have been a companion/servant and you are right it is strange during the war! Likely though that she was sent away but I could be barking up the wrong tree. |
