She could have been married before - when I looked up my grandparents' marriage, it listed Grandad (William E Siggs) as having a wife named "Briggs or Rowland". Rowland was her maiden name but she had been married to a Mr. Briggs - on the marriage certificate, under "condition" she called herself "the divorced wife of Clarence Briggs". |

Could it also be that there was a mix up in the records between the registry office/church and the main registration office. |
