Hi. I was wondering if any body knows if I can look up a maintanance order that was made against my father. Can I look at County Court Records or do I have to contact them and ask them to do it for me? Thans for any advise |

It depends on how long ago the maintenance order was issued. My grandfather left my grandmother with three children and she took him to court and was granted maintenance. This was done in a Magistrate's Court in the 1920's. We were told that you could look at the Magistrate's Court Record Books as long as they were more than 30 years old. (We did this at the local archives for the area). |

Thanks for the reply. The order was made approx 50 yrs ago!! I have contacted the local County Courts but they informed me that they have no facilities for people to go and look at their records. |

I would ring the County Records Office for the area you need and ask them if they have the records there. If they do then I'm sure you would be able to look at them there. |
