Searching for the death of William Sands

This is my g-grandfather who I have been able to track from his birth in 1859 in Openshaw, Manchester right through to 1901 when he appeared on the census living in Middlesbrough as a boarder. His wife was dead by then and my grandfather was in a childrens home. |

Do you think I would be better off searching for Marriage records after 1901 instead of the death records ? |
