Birth Record After Adoption

I have a relative who was born in 1900 who I believe was adopted about 1901. I was wondering if it is likely that a note would be put on the birth record of this child saying he was adopted and giving the name of the adoptive parents. |

If they were officially adopted then the original birth certificate will have 'adopted' written in the margin, no other information as to new parents etc will be on there. |

Official adoptions didnt start til 1927 so any adoption pror to then would be private between parties. |
