Well, having gone back and reviewed all my info for Charles it seems I had lots of conflicting info!
This was one of the earliest lines I followed when I first started my family tree over a year ago. I'm stiill very much only an amature but having seen what a mess I made of that person in my tree I'm glad to see that I have come a long way since then!
I have now actually completely removed Charles, his wife and all but one of his children I had on my tree and am re-building there from scratch! (the one child I haven't dleted is my 100% connection! Fanny Merchant.)

Ah, this looks like I may have had the wrong person then. Thanks for that guys.
I'll have a proper look into this asap and post again when I have.
I'm currently trying to transcribe a will from 1847 of one of my ancestors, it's damn hard work! I'm desperate to get it finished before I move on to anything else!!
Thanks for helping me out!

Are the 1841 and 1851 records definitely the same person?
I know census differ for birthplace, sometimes, but to be listed as from a different county, I would just wonder..........

I just thought I should add that I have Charles on the 1861, '71 and '81 census. He died before 1891 (I have 2 possible death records).

My 4th great grandfather was in a "House of Corrections" on the 1841 census. (Details below, note; I've taken out the long list of inmates).
He was out by 1851 as he was married to my 4th great grandmother and they had a couple children (See info underneath the 1841 census details).
Does anyone know the best way for me to go about finding out when he went in, when he came out and most importantly why he was in there in the first place!?
Thanks for any help!
