Davison is the mother's maiden name, that's why we think they were sisters.

this is a copy of the info I sent to Karen the other day

"Karen there is no easy way I'm afraid.

The first thing you need is the marriage certificate of Stella to H Henderson. This will give you her father's name and occupation and also Stella's age at marriage. Then with a bit of guesswork you could find her birth.

The mother's maiden name is always recorded on birth certs but was not included in the Index until after 1911.

If you search for a Stella Shaw born between 1900 and 1922 this is what you get with a mother's maiden name of Davison:

Births Jun 1919
Shaw Stella Davison Newcastle T 10b 19

then if you search on the 2 surnames of Shaw and Davison you get these:
Births Sep 1917
Shaw Doris Davison Newcastle T. 10b 35

Births Jun 1919
Shaw Stella Davison Newcastle T 10b 19

Births Sep 1921
Shaw Rondall Davison Newcastle T. 10b 3

Births Jun 1923
Shaw Clifford Davison Newcastle T. 10b 6

The marriage that comes up with those 2 names i

Marriages Sep 1915

Davison Sarah H to Shaw Newcastle T. 10b 17
Shaw Richard to Davison Newcastle T. 10b 17 "

I could find no Henry, Kathleen or Maureen Shaw

Karen, what it means is that the children were registered with a father's name of Shaw and the mothers maiden name was Davison. There does appear to be a marriage between these 2 people.,

If you look at your own birth entry you will find it reg in father's name and then mother's maiden at the side

Karen,

The death I found might not be the one. The deaths haven't been transcribed yet on Ancestry.

Was there another thread on this?

there is this death which would fit in with the birth quarter of Stella Shaw reg in Jun Q 1919

Stella Thompson
Birth Date: 1 May 1919
Death Registration Month/Year: Apr 1989
Age at death (estimated): 69
Registration district: Hull
Inferred County: Yorkshire
Volume: 7
Page: 850

Karen then as now you have 6 weeks to reg a birth so someone born 1st May would probably be reg in the 2nd quarter of the year i.e. April/May/June. Whereas someone born June may not be reg till the next quarter of July/Aug/Sept.

The only way to get a dob is to buy the certificate.
Did Stella's first husband your mother's father die or were they divorced?
