I've gotten a copy of my partners g grandads WW1 record and thankfully its mostly complete, what is really intriguing is there is a record of a disciplinary and due to the combination of old fashion writing and bad copies all I can make out is below |

I've looked at loads of service records and it is fairly rare for a man NOT to have some sort of misdemeanour in his records! |

thanks for that, I'm new to the military records as the record for my great grandads who served in world war 1 have all been destroyed but luckily for my partner his both his who served we have records for. although one of them we only have 2 pages for and they are a bit singed |

My guess is the first part is Good Conduct, the later one relates to forfiting his enhanced sargent's pay for that period. |

Mayfield - I think that keeping a low profile might have been a good idea, my father was in the RAF as a Corporal and knowing a lot of NCOs I think they shouldve followed your ancestors example |
