I have just obtained the marriage cert for the person I think/hope is my great aunt. Her name was Jane Mawdsley and she married William Taylor on 9th November 1881. I have found her on the 1881 census living in the household of the man who is named as a witness at the marriage. |

Well, it seems to me that there can't be too many Jane Mawdsleys, with the same father, marrying in about the right place! On the face of it the marriage cert sounds good. |

The name Jane Mawdsley and the name of her farther, James, is quite common in the Liverpool area, but what is giving me doubts is having no children to act as backup. This side of my family has been a headache from day one as granddad did not tell anyone very much about his life prior to his marriage in 1897, so I am swimming in a very dark ocean. |
