If he was adopted via an adoption agency and knows which it was (I was adopted through the Catholic Children's Rescue Society, for instance, so if it was me they would be my first port of call) it might be worth him getting in touch with them as they might have his details on file. |

hello kate and helen...thanks very much...that sounds like very good advice ....his mother was irish ...so that might be a starting point ..will have to phone him he's not got a pc ...once again thank you very much ..will let you know how we get on zimma |

By his mother being Irish, I assume you mean his adopted mother? If he was born and adopted in Ireland (the Republic not Northern Ireland) then it could be trickier. |

hi helen, thanks for your additional info...have not spoke to my friend yet ...i know it was his birth mother that was irish....( cork i think).....he was adopted in england and his name was changed...so it looks like we have some work to do .. |
