I've received so much help from you kind folk with my "mysteries" so thought I'd give this one a go. My grandma's eldest sister ETHEL HALFORD born 1889ish, Smethwick Staffs, parents William and Emily Halford, listed on 1891 census. I couldn't find Ethel after that at all, thought she must have died as a child, then whilst searching for marriages etc of a generation before, found Ethel aged 12 on 1901 census living with her Aunt Emma Jesson (husband David Jesson), Emma is Williams sister formerly Emma Halford, decided to go one step further and have found Ethel still living with Emma and family aged 22 on the 1911 census. My mystery is what became of her, I know either from family memories or research about my grans other siblings but Ethel is a complete mystery, having never even known of her until my research began. I have looked at the marriages after 1911 as far as I can and can't locate a marriage, or likewise a death, so can anyone with a bit of time to spare see if they can come up with Ethel after 1911 for me please? By the way in my searches for Halfords, have found the name transcribed as Alford, Allford, Holford, Dalford and have tried lots of variations on these themes. I'll be around for a while whilst I make a cuppa and do some boring housework. Thanks all Karen. |

This is the correct registration district for her birth |

I can't see an obvious marriage, but if she stayed in the Kings Norton registration district, you could try looking for births with mothers maiden name Halfored, then cross referencing the marriages |
