Christopher - have had a look on the surname info bit of Ancestry (now Helen has reminded me how to find it!) There is no meaning given but the 1891 map shows a strong concentration of Tattersons in Lancs, Yorks and Cheshire if that helps. There are a fair few in Co. Durham too, and also a very strong concentration of Tatersons (one T) in that county. However, I should point out that it only shows England and Wales. |
