Family Tree Maker is good tree making program and it allows you to add various events to the boxes and to customise the tree with various colours but the layout of the All in One leaves a lot to be desired and cannot be altered very much. |

My experience is that people unfamiliar with family trees prefer to look at narrative reports like 'Ancestors of [your mum]'. I use Family Historian, but other progs should have a similar facility. |

Ann, have you tried Tribal Pages (free site), its like having your own website. Gedcom your tree from here to Tribal Pages and thats it really, all your notes go with it. You can have a photos page, choose your colour home page, give it a password, invite people, have a guestbook, and write your own introduction. I love it. |

Thanks to you all for your replies. Will look at your suggestions. Ron, it is the overall look of the tree I am disappointed with - I didn't realise you could do your own designing. MGH S has pm'd me to offer his help so I have replied that I would much appreciate it. |
