I have a 1851 census giving the parents names of William Pearson Collier as Samuel and Elizabeth Collier. I have just got his birth certificate, and his mother's name is Leah. Leah appears in 1861 census but not Samuel.I've found a marriage reference 1840 Q3 for Leah and Samuel. Can anyone tell me if this is the same person or did he have two wives? I'd appreciate any advice on this. Kind regards, Jean |

It does look like the same person as names sometimes get mixed up. What area on census? Is Leah a widow on the 61 census? |

Hi Sonia, thanks for replying. The area is Sheffield and yes, she is a widow in 1861. Jean |

It's probably just a mistake on the 1851 census. |
