In England, a marriage is usually recorded in three places. Firstly, there's the official record of the marriage in the local register; secondly, there's usually a copy in the church register; thirdly, a copy of the local register will be made and kept at the GRO. The previous answers relate to the GRO index. However, you can also purchase a marr cert from the local RO wgo hold the original record, and their indices are sometimes online too. E.g., |
