I can t help I have no idea which Loanhead it is I just assumed it was Loanhead Edinburgh . Where do we go from here ?
It may explain why there are no exact matches for Loanhead Edinburgh

There are other Loanheads. Searching the 1881 census with keyword Loanhead brings up hits in Lanarkshire, Angus and Stirlingshire.

leith south is a district,
.scotland use that like we use say ,marylebone,for a certain area of the town/city

so if we can find what reg district loanhead comes under i will open that one

Loanhead is just south of Edinburgh .When I google earth it I think it is in Edinburgh now. I m sorry is that what you are asking me

THat is my family . Mary Moffat Adamson was my Gran ! I have been able to trace Alice Burges family they didn t seem to move very far . William is the one who has been my stumbling block . How do you follow people around the country ? I think you must both be Miss Marple !

Alice has another middle name beginning with M. Perhaps that's Moffat?

I agree about that being William in 1891. Problem is, there are just too many William Adamsons in Scotland in 1881 and 1891 to know which is the correct one.
