i once went off on a tangent and found an Admiral - got very confused because there was a real Admiral with the same surname.

In the later census she says she was born in Gosport Hampshire though this is what's throwing me !!!!!!!

Alice stott was Margaret's witness in her wedding in 1851 could she be related?

Sorry Adam - they all married John Schofield!!!!
I assume it is a very common name in Rochdale. I found them on on www.familysearch.org.
I'm at this point myself with a list of possible wives and my next step is to travel across country to check on the original Parish Registers to try and work out which one.

just looked on lancashire bmd and there are 31 marriages of John Schofield from 1837 to 1847 in Rochdale so it looks like a very common name indeed

So it's not only 1851 she says she was born in Gosport.
