Compulsory civil registration of non-Roman Catholic marriages began on April 1st, 1845. The registration of births, deaths and all marriages commenced on January 1st, 1864.

Irish civil registrations did not start until 1845. Have you tried familysearch?

The birth index for Ireland is now available on the pilot of Familysearch. You may find him on there.

Trying to trace Thomas Holmes birth cert. He was born in Dublin around 1843, according to the census. Does anybody know how I can trace his family in Ireland at that particular time.
