There weren't any certificates prior to 1837. You could look in parish records for a baptism (sometimes the date of birth is also given but not usually). You can also look at parish records for marriages. |

Irene, you want the IGI (International Genealogical Index) once you get on the Family Search site. You might also find the 1881 census useful too. |

At the LDS site, click on Library - Library Catalog in the blue bar at top of page, then do a place search for Liverpool, and click on the church records - parish of interest. With a big city like Liverpool, it's a bit awkward deciding which parish, but one obvious choice is wherever their families were in 1841. |
