TWO ENTRIES IN 1891 CENSUS

I wonder if anybody has any thoughts about this, I have an ancestor in the 1891 census for Manchester Frank (name Francis)Ryder born Ardwick Manchester ,wife Betsey and children ,he has Lunatic in the last column, he is definately my relative. |

I've seen this with visitors. They get recorded once at their usual place of residence and again as a visitor. |

In a Durham mining village, I came across a family that all had an entry in the disability column. In their case it was that they were all born in Lancashire. I presume no one could understand their accent. |

There is a strong possibility that Frank was affected (poisoned) by the paint he used in his job and then diagnosed as mad. It might be worth researching the kind of things that went into paint in those days - lead for example. This was quite well known for Hatters - hence the phrase "As mad as a Hatter" |
