Please only use this board for posting tips.
If you are trying to find people please use the trying to find board.
This board is for posting or asking for advice on how to do something i.e. TIPS.
There are some very good ones so if you are here take the time to read some of them.

cool it grumpy

People have been using all the boards for seeking all kinds of information for years!!

I KNOW what the T&Cs and board "instructions say ............ but you'll never succeed as a one man band!

People who need the help just don't read these advice threads. We've proved that time and time again!

People will ALWAYS post what they like any forum they like. The General board is supposedly for general chat about family history - you would be hard pushed to find any threads about family history on there but who cares?

On the whole I think that people DO post on the right board but some don't and it isn't a problem. If this board was for posting tips only, it wouldn't get many posts on it!

I disagree. The Tips board is about "how to do", or "where to look", or "how to use the IGI", not about where is John Doe is 1871.

Well, when I first came on here, what 6 years ago, to be honest I thought the Trying to Find board was for living relatives - I never used it. I guess most new people feel the same way.

Does it really matter?

May be GR should change the Trying to Find Board name.

At my age I dont care where I post, just the fact that I managed to master the intricacies of this diabolical new site and actually print anything ,is an achievement by my standards.

Seems to me that a lot of people post their questions on any of the boards.

All the boards from Records through to Surname info are much the same. It's only Gen and Chat that are a bit different and they are similar to each other.

Would be easier if there were just two boards.

1. Genealogy.

2. Everything else.
