Hello. Can anyone give me some tips on how to research ancestors overseas, more specifically the USA? My great great grandfather was born in New York in 1855 but that is all I know. I would like to trace my tree back further but do not know where to go from here. Please help!!! |

if you go into a Mormon church - there are plenty around - they may be able to help you further as their records are pretty good and they have more information than they put on their website apparently |

On the 1871 UK census he's a fisherman aboard the vessel "Adelaide". It says he was born 1855, Virginia, South America. (Of course we all know Virginia is in North America) |

Thank you very much. I think that it sometimes becomes confusing when there are discrepancies in the spelling of names. |
