If you are a birth family member you can apply for contact through an Adoption Support Agency. There is a charge. |

I am not sure but I think birth family members can apply to NORCAP, National Organisation For Counselling Adoptees And Parents. They may be able to help trace adoptees. Also adoptees can register with phase 1 of the Adoption Contact Register at the OPCS (Office Of Population Censuses And Surveys, General Register Office) A birth relative can register with Phase 2 of the register. If the adoptee and a member of their birth family registers they are then contacted and put in touch with each other. Try checking this out. I hope this helps. Good luck. |

Since the new Adoption laws came into force 30th Dec 2005. A birth family member can make an application to any Adoption Support Agency in their own area. Files will be transferred across. |
