We have recently been visiting the British Library in Kings Cross, London to view the old Electoral Rolls. Some of them showed dwelling houses, lodgers and owners (separately listed, if they lived somewhere else). Forties ones showed a bold S for Services and J for Jury Service. The Books have to be ordered a few days before as they are stored elsewhere! |
