I am trying to find the exact date of death someone who died in 1991 but all I get is the month and the year and I can't order a certificate without the full date. Any idea how I can get the date? |

Ring the office local to the event and ask them for a copy of the death cert - you can pay over the phone probably. |

Thanks everyone. I will take all your advice and see how I get on. I have been "away" from the my family search for sometime now but have decided to bite the bullet and try again. |

The General Register Office allocates a reference to every event of birth, marriage or death registered in England and Wales. This relates to the year, quarter, and district that the entry was registered in. This reference is only of use to the General Register Office and not to local registration offices who have their own system. |
