Hi
That is correct for 1901 census,
On his marriage cert William claims his father is Thomas Cane a Plumber but he also claims he is a widow this is not true as the mother of the children in the 1901 census was married to William Duce.
The two girl are William Duces Children.

After the death of Elizabeth (The childrens mother)
William married Berth Adams my grandmother.

I have looked into the the fact that William cane and William Duce were the same person but i am not sure one way or the other

Thank you for helping i am lost on this

Julie

From the marriage cert who is William's father and what is his occupation? Also from the daughter's birth cert what is William's wife's maiden name?

Hi All
I have a marriage cert for William Cane my Greatgrandad also his daughters birth cert and info from the 1901/1991 census.
All info leads me to believe he was born in Bethnal Green 1865c

But i have searched hours and hours and can't find a birth record or anyone fitting him in any other census

I know he was a postman and sent for his Civil service proof of age
all this says is to the best of his belief and knowledge he is William Cane born in Bethnal Green 18th October 1865.

Where do i go from here? Is there any records of abandoned children ? He must have been somewhere as a child.
Any suggestions please
Julie
