Their is not a register that you can search for Stillbirths, the still birth register only began On 1st July 1927 so any Stillbirths befor that date were not registed, for info look at this web page |

You would have to assume Florence is the mother. |

I am wondering if the certificate your mother has is just a 'short' certificate. It probably would not show the informants name whereas the 'proper' cert would. |

The birth certificates can be falsified. I have just looked up my cousin's mothers birth. She was fostered from an early age. |

oh... um dont know all mum has is the birth certifictae with florences name on. She was adopted out to a family in the Isle of weight. can we find adoption notes on this genes reunited or is that seperate. Mum was born in February 1946 Jenifer jean Lancey I found the file to say her mothers maiden name was Lancey but no first name. Which would make florence about 20/21 but like I said florence had a sister who was born 1929 making her closer to the age shes been told her mother was. |

Is the mother's first name not mentioned anywhere else in the adoption notes? |

sorry Im no good at explaining. her birth certificate says her mother is florence, the files just say the mothers maiden name, she was told her mother was 16 when she was born but florence was nearly 21 but florences sister was 16? could it be that florence done the paperwork although it was the sister? or that she gave florence name? |

I,m not sure what you mean. the cert will have the informants name on it.ie the person who registerd the birth . |

ok this is blowing my brain. My mum was adopted at birth. She has her birth certificate that says her mother is Florence but... all the paperwork ive found point it towards being florence sister. If florence name is on the certificate does it mean she is definatly her mother, surely all the files cant be wrong? if so how can I check further who registered her at birth. |
